Railroad Operating SessionsOperating Sessions are held every week on Saturday mornings until the snow falls. An operation is where we "pretend" the IPP&W is a real railroad, delivering goods and passengers with scheduled trains using a dispatcher. The instructions are kept simple so that new visitors can join in the fun. Each engineer / conductor team is given a switch list with the locations at which freight cars are to be dropped and or picked up. They must call the dispatcher, using two-way radios supplied by the club, to get clearance from one location on the railway to the next. Steam OperationRunning a 1930s era, Colorado-style narrow-gauge railroad - the IPP&W. Usually this means LGB and Bachmann equipment in 1:22.5 scale. All equipment used for operations must have Kadee #1 gauge size couplers. Diesel OperationA transition-era, standard-gauge simulation. Usually this means Aristocraft and USA Trains equipment in 1/29 scale. Kadee CouplersAll equipment used for operations must have Kadee #1 gauge size couplers. R/C Battery PowerIPP&W loco's uses battery power and Aristocraft/Crest or RCS remote control. There is no power on our track and loco's must have track power disconnected to prevent shorts. Please review the following frequenct tables before programming your transmitter and receiver and select a frquency that is not in use. This should eliminate interference between operating locomotives and prevent accidents. Click here for the RC Frequencies Tables
