Railroad Operating SessionsOperating Sessions are planned every two weeks on Saturday mornings until the snow falls. An operation is where we "pretend" the IPP&W is a real railroad, delivering goods and passengers with scheduled trains using a dispatcher. The instructions are kept simple so that new visitors can join in the fun. Each engineer / conductor team is given a layout map with clearly marked route and switching locations and a switch list with the freight car drop and pickups. They must call the dispatcher to get clearance to the next town. Steam OperationRunning a 1930s era, Colorado-style narrow-gauge railroad - the IPP&W. Usually this means LGB and Bachmann equipment in 1:22.5 scale. All equipment used for operations must have Kadee #1 gauge size couplers. Diesel OperationA transition-era, standard-gauge simulation. Usually this means Aristocraft and USA Trains equipment in 1/29 scale. Kadee CouplersAll equipment used for operations must have Kadee #1 gauge size couplers. R/C Battery PowerIPP&W loco's uses battery power and Aristocraft/Crest or RCS remote control. There is no power on our track and loco's must have track power disconnected to prevent shorts. Please review the following frequenct tables before programming your transmitter and receiver and select a frquency that is not in use. This should eliminate interference between operating locomotives and prevent accidents. Click here for the RC Frequencies Tables
