March 9 - ITEMS FOR SALE SECTION UPDATE

The Items For Sale Section was updated with a note that anyone can purchase the items advertised, not just OVGRS club members. Pictures have also been added to the list of electronic items available.

For information click on the Items For Sale link.

March 4 - PHOENIX P8 SOUND BOARD UPDATE

Ralph Dipple just brought to my attention an ad on page 25 of the April 2010 issue of Garden Railways about the Phoenix P8 sound board.

Two items are worth noting

1. The P8 can be bought either as a full kit that includes a speaker and reed switches or without these items. The P8 Basic package does not need these items, as it designed for use with Revolution Train Engineer and Plug and Play diesels with speakers already installed.

2. Phoenix is offering dedicated cables to mate with the Revolution Train Engineer. A close inspection of the picture reveals the screw terminals that were used with the PB9 have been replaced with multi-pin headers. It is assumed that the multi-pin connectors and wires to be offered will be similar to the ones supplied with the Revolution Train Engineer.

Unlike the PB9, the P8 does not have a charging circuit or small battery pack, as is intended to be used with full power from an on-board battery pack or full power from the tracks for DCC. As a result the MSRP for the P8 is only US$195, which may enable us to purchase this new sound board for CDN$200 at the ECLSTS.

March 3 - The article on how to convert a USA Trains F3-B to a power car has been updated. The original battery pack would not charge properly and was replaced with two, Aristo-Craft, lithium-ion battery packs.

For information click on the F3-B Power Car link.

FEBRUARY 13 - Our Webmaster Peter Bramah has given the club web site a fresh new look.

Immediately apparent are the new colours and graphic enhanced header. The page and font colour combination make the text clearer and easier to read. Even the pictures appear more vivid.

Thanks Peter! I am sure all our members and visitors will appreciate the new look.

WEB SITE CHANGES LOG

The Ottawa Valley GRS does not publish a monthly newsletter. Instead we constantly update our web site with articles and photos, and then post a news flash about the additions on this Home and News Page. The news flashes roll over so quickly, however, you may miss something if you don't visit frequently.

To check the Changes Log for articles that have been posted, click on the link.
