Mission: To promote friendship and have fun through garden railroading
October27 - A new article on converting a USA Trains GP-7/9 to on-board, battery power and radio control using an Aristo-Craft, lithium-ion battery pack, Plug and Play Board, and 2.4 GHz Revolution Train Engineer receiver has been added to the Battery Power, Radio Control and Sound Section.

To extend battery run times, LED lights were added in place of the power hungry incandescent lamps that came with the diesel.
For more information on the conversion, click on the GEEP 9 link.
A movie of a pair of these Geeps making a van hop on the IPP&W Railway has been added to the VIDEOS SECTION.
October 22 - The Items For Sale Section has been updated with a USA Trains GP38-2 diesel for sale.

The diesel has Kadee couplers and an MU plug for a trailing power car installed. For information click on the Items For Sale link.
September 29 - The Super Socket in not needed and should NOT be used with the new 2.4 GHz Revolution Train Engineer receiver. Aristo-Craft sell the correct Plug and Play board with screw terminals for the installation of the Revolution receiver in non-Plug and Play locomotives.

For more information about the differences between the boards, click on the Super Socket link.
The Ottawa Valley GRS does not publish a monthly newsletter. Instead we constantly update our web site with articles and photos, and then post a news flash about the additions on this Home and News page. The news flashes roll over so quickly, however, you may miss something if you don't visit frequently.

Sorry Chuck, but no one here has bought a K-27 yet. If the Bachmann socket is a copy of Ariso-Craft's Plug and Play socket, there should be no problems.
Be aware however that the 75 Mhz receiver provided power for the lights at a constant 20 volts, maximum 200 milliamps. The Revolution receiver provides power to the lights straight from the battery pack or track power pack, and the resistors required might be of a higher value.
